We were here today for a tour; such a great experience! The staff is so friendly and kind. The animals are clearly loved and well cared for, and we enjoyed being able to pet them. We will definitely be back!
I had an unique younger chicken I had found while running my dog. It was still peeping. Went out by it every day for about two weeks to gain his trust and then maybe catch it. It would not have survived much longer...was out in the country. With winter coming and predators it didn’t have a chance. I fed and talked to it everyday. It was starting to trust me. Would follow me and had to be close to me when I was out there. In the meantime, was trying to find it a home when I did get it. NO ONE would help me!!! I became so attached to this little chicken that I even named him, “Chicken”! LOL. I ran across Heartland on the internet for rescuing chickens. Their concern and response was amazing!!! They had to travel over an hour(one way), to get to me. Chicken is now in the best place he could be...Heartland!!! I can’t say enough about this place. He probably has a bunch of chicken friends by now. This staff definitely went “above and beyond” to help this little guy and me. They thank me for saving his life, but it was them that saved his life.
